Women's ministry

Women’s Ministry at OxBF exists to encourage and equip women to worship our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ through the study and application of Scripture and the deepening of relationships with other women for growth and accountability. We know that sometimes studying the Bible can seem daunting and hard, but it is life – the very Word of God given to us. Our desire is to be a group of women committed to studying the scriptures together and allowing them to teach, correct, train and equip us as Godly women.

In the midst of a busy Thanksgiving and Christmas season, it's often difficult to keep our focus set upon Christ. In the flurry of activities (from baking, to shopping, to celebrating with friends), how do we prepare space in our schedules to savor our Savior, reflect upon His coming, and wait with abiding hopefulness for His return?

We’re thrilled to share about an exciting opportunity for women of OxBF and guests to participate in a devotional experience that adorns your tree with 25 new ornaments. To guide our readings, we will use an advent devotional entitled, The Advent Jesse Tree by Dean Lambert Smith. The Jesse Tree recounts the story of redemption using 25 ornaments as symbols to represent different Bible stories, all pointing to the coming Messiah.

Details and registration below.

How to Participate in the The Advent Jesse Tree and Ornament Exchange Event

Through daily readings and a corresponding tree ornament, the Jesse Tree is a time-tested advent tradition that helps refocus us on the Bible's promises foretelling Jesus' coming. This event is an opportunity for women of all artistic abilities (or lack thereof) to collaborate with one another to decorate your Christmas tree with meaningful reminders of the reason for the season. Each participant will be responsible to provide 25 ornaments for a corresponding devotional entry in the book, The Advent Jesse Tree. After making and dropping off these ornaments, you will take away 25 unique ornaments for your own tree. Later, there will be an opportunity to gather for fellowship and reflection on the Advent season.  Check out the informational video above for more details about the Jesse tree!

Ornament Drop Off

We ask that the ornaments are dropped off at the church by November 2 during church office hours (Monday-Thursday, 9-4:00 pm).

Date of Ornament Exchange Party

Friday, November 6 from 8-9:30 pm. We’ll be gathering in the Loft at OxBF to receive your 25 pre-packaged ornaments, reflect on God's provision this season and remember our hope in Him. At that time, you will receive your 25 pre-packaged ornaments.
